Home Sleep Testing
Fresh Fit Consulting ยท Little Silver, NJ
A home sleep test is an overnight study used to diagnose sleep apnea. Conducted in the comfort of a patient's own home and bed, it monitors breathing patterns, oxygen levels, respiratory effort, body position, and sleep architecture across a single night. Equipment is provided at the office, set up at home by the patient, and returned the following day for interpretation by Dr. Boesler.
FFC uses the General Sleep Zmachine Synergy, a Type II home sleep testing device that captures both the respiratory data required for sleep apnea diagnosis and EEG-based sleep staging simultaneously. Most home sleep tests available through conventional sleep medicine are Type III devices that measure respiratory function only. The Zmachine provides a more complete picture of both airway function and sleep quality from a single overnight study.
Who should consider a home sleep test
This study is appropriate for patients experiencing one or more of the following symptoms:
Loud or disruptive snoring
Observed episodes of stopped breathing during sleep
Waking during the night gasping or choking
Morning dry mouth or sore throat
Excessive daytime sleepiness not explained by hours slept
Difficulty concentrating or mood changes
High blood pressure without a clear cause
Patients whose primary concern is sleep quality, architecture, or efficiency rather than suspected apnea may be better served by FFC's Home Sleep EEG Monitoring using the Advanced Brain Monitoring Sleep Profiler SP40. Learn more โ
Results and follow-up
Once the study is returned, Dr. Boesler interprets the full dataset and reviews findings with the patient in a dedicated results consultation included in the study fee. Results are discussed in the context of the patient's full clinical picture and symptoms rather than delivered as a raw data report.
If sleep apnea is diagnosed and CPAP or BiPAP therapy is recommended, FFC submits the necessary documentation to a third party Durable Medical Equipment distributor who manages equipment insurance coverage, delivery, and sizing directly with the patient. A follow-up visit is recommended two weeks after equipment is received for new CPAP and BiPAP patients to confirm correct usage. Established patients on CPAP or BiPAP therapy require one visit every six months to maintain documentation of medical necessity for continued insurance coverage.
Pricing and Insurance coverage
The home sleep test is $450 per night, payable at the time of equipment pickup. This price applies to cash and check payments. Credit and debit card payments are accepted with an additional processing fee. The fee includes equipment rental and a results consultation with Dr. Boesler.
Patients with in-network insurance plans are eligible for courtesy claim submission with no payment collected at the time of service. Patients with out-of-network plans will receive an itemized claim form for self-submission.
