Red Light Therapy
Red light therapy (RLT) is a skin exposure therapy to low-level wavelengths of red and near-infrared light. The therapeutic effects of red light therapy are achieved through the stimulation of mitochondrial function and the production of cellular energy (ATP) in the body. These healing and restorative effects work as an effective adjuvant therapy to many of the treatments offered at Fresh Fit Consulting. We highly recommend RLT to our patients experiencing skin (e.g. Eczema, Rosacea, Psoriasis..), and brain health (e.g. fatigue, brain fog, insomnia..) related conditions.
What are the Benefits?
Look Better
Experience, scientifically proven anti-aging benefits, and improved skin health. Reduce wrinkles, color patches, hyperpigmentation, and skin discoloration. Research has shown it can enhance the production of collagen for skin rejuvenation.
Feel Better
Increase energy, reduce inflammation, regulate hormones, and boost immunity. Research has shown improvement in cognitive function alongside decreased depression and anxiety levels when using red and near-infrared light therapy in combination with other treatments.
Perform Better
Enhance peak athletic performance, boost recovery, and promote faster wound healing. Red Light Therapy study participants were shown to experience reductions in muscle fatigue, improvements in muscle strength and endurance, and muscle growth responses resulting from exercise.
Science!
Fresh Fit Consulting’s Red Therapy utilizes FDA-registered medical equipment emitting a combination of 660nm RED & 850nm NIR light wavelengths. These wavelengths are the ideal strength required to penetrate the outer layers of the epidermis and dermis to reach subcutaneous tissue, muscles, and our nervous system.
The following study published on Feb 01, 2014, in the National Library of Medicine, investigated the safety and efficacy of RLT light emission for improving skin feeling and appearance.

To quote the studies findings
“When compared with the initial values and the controls, the volunteers experienced significant improvements in their personal assessments of skin feeling and complexion, in clinical outcomes as assessed by collagen density and skin roughness measurements and in the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles as assessed by three blinded evaluators”
“The application of RLT and ELT provides a safe, non-ablative, non-thermal, atraumatic photobiomodulation treatment of skin tissue with high patient satisfaction rates. RLT and ELT can extend the spectrum of anti-aging treatment options available to patients looking for mild and pleasant light-only skin rejuvenation.”

Who Should Avoid Red Light Therapy?
Despite Red Light Therapy’s promising scientific research, some conditions and symptoms are severe enough to disqualify participation. Patients with the following or related symptom concerns are requested to individually consult with Dr Boesler for participation approval.
Photosensitivity
People with photosensitive conditions may have skin more sensitive to light exposure and could experience an adverse reaction.
Pregnancy
As there is limited research on the effects of red light therapy on pregnant women, FFC choses to err on the side of caution discouraging this application.
Epilepsy
People with epilepsy or a history of seizures should be cautious, as the pulsing lights in some red light therapy devices may trigger a seizure.
Cancer
For individuals with active cancer, especially skin cancer, some studies suggest that red light therapy may promote cell growth, which could be potentially detrimental for those with cancerous tumors.
Certain Eye Conditions
While red light therapy is generally safe for the eyes, those with certain pre-existing eye conditions or who are taking medications that increase light sensitivity should exercise caution.
Medications
Some medications can cause increased sensitivity to light, including certain antibiotics, diuretics, and retinoids. If you're taking medications that increase photosensitivity, please speak with us directly.
Pacemaker / other implanted electronic device
Although red light therapy does not typically interfere with pacemakers, we request patients seek advice on a case-by-case basis. Individual adjustments such as shielding devices or light source distance adjustments may be recommended.
